Ava Johnson and Chris Avendano, career soldiers, meet in an Arabic language course and become fast friends. Chris goes missing in Yemen while on undercover duty.  Ava, an analyst in military operations, is deeply dissatisfied with the military's cursory investigation. She  goes alone to Yemen where she teams up with the local detective, Rasheed Sulieman. 

Together, with Ava's driving determination, they uncover a string of deaths related to Chris's disappearance, and bring the killer to justice.
